AINTU-Smart ED

National Taiwan University

AINTU-Smart ED stands for AI National Taiwan University – Smart Emergency Department, a specialized division within National Taiwan University Hospital. The program integrates artificial intelligence technologies into the hospital’s emergency care system to enhance service efficiency, data management, and interdepartmental communication.

Through this initiative, AINTU aims to create a more connected, data-driven medical environment—accelerating emergency response times and improving the overall quality of patient care.

As the Lead Designer, I was responsible for shaping the brand identity and user experience strategy for AINTU–Smart ED — a hospital innovation project that integrates AI into emergency care operations. My approach centered on translating complex medical and data systems into clear, accessible, and trustworthy digital experiences.

Key Design Principles
• Identity: Established a visual language that reflects innovation, precision, and medical credibility.
• Accessibility: Designed clear visual hierarchies and color systems that meet accessibility standards for diverse users.
• Simplicity: Streamlined user interfaces to minimize cognitive load and improve usability under time-sensitive conditions.
• Findability: Enhanced information architecture for quick access to patient data and real-time alerts.
• Scalability: Built a modular design system that can adapt to future hospital systems and departments.
• Sustainability: Developed reusable design assets and documentation to ensure long-term maintainability.
• Credibility: Created a brand tone and interface style that communicates trust, reliability, and professional excellence.
• Clarity: Focused on intuitive layouts and visual cues to support rapid decision-making in emergency contexts.

Through this process, the AINTU–Smart ED identity evolved into a cohesive brand and functional interface that not only represents cutting-edge medical technology but also enhances the everyday usability of hospital systems.

The AINTU–Smart ED branding system successfully establishes a cohesive and scalable visual identity that embodies the brand’s vision of trust, collaboration, and seamless connectivity. Through the modular design approach, the identity can evolve with future branches and applications while maintaining a unified aesthetic and clear brand recognition. This system not only supports consistent communication across diverse touchpoints but also empowers stakeholders to extend and adapt the design as an open, living resource—reflecting AINTU’s commitment to continuous innovation and connection.
